The International Women’s Day 2026 theme of Give to Gain really resonates with me this year.
I’ve been blown away by the support and encouragement I’ve had from so many women (and men 😊) since setting up my own marketing business, Pink Purple Marketing.
Making connections
After just a few weeks out and about networking, I feel like I’ve already started to form strong connections with a number of women, who have walked the path I am now on.
Their openness, enthusiasm and humour has filled a gap I didn’t actually realise I was missing – having colleagues! Being able to bounce ideas around, practice my ‘pitch’ and share the good, bad and downright ugly of starting up your own business has been invaluable.
It genuinely inspires me when I hear other women say they have been in business for 1, 8, 12 or even 30 years.
Supporting each other
In return it’s made think about what I can do to support other women in business and especially business owners.
Things like:
Don’t be a gatekeeper of the good stuff that’s out there. Share the networking events, meet for a 121 with your ‘competitors’
Connect, follow and like your connections’ posts on here and other platforms. It helps to increase reach and shows support
Talk about the amazing women you meet and recommended their business when you can
Being inclusive gets us all so much further than being exclusive.
